In the area of the Fis 1 showing, sediments and volcanics of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group are intruded by diorite and quartz diorite of the Upper Triassic Stikine Plutonic Suite.

In 1989, a 1 metre chip sample of heavy limonite oxidized, quartz veining in altered volcanic host containing 1 to 2 per cent pyrite assayed 6.47 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 19120). The rock, located in a stream bed, was believed to be outcrop. Stream sediment sample BJ-89-93, taken downstream from the high-gold rock sample, yielded 330 parts per billion gold, 79 parts per million copper, 11 parts per million lead and 103 parts per million zinc (Assessment Report 19120).

In 1989, Fest Resources collected 126 stream sediment samples and 12 rock samples for analysis on their Fis 1-5, Jade 2 and 3 and Jumbo 2 claims. In 1990, an airborne reconnaissance magnetic and VLF-EM survey was conducted on behalf of Fest Resources over the claim area. In 1991, a brief follow-up program of rock geochemical sampling and prospecting was carried out by Fest with a total of 78 rock, 19 silt and 30 soil samples being collected for geochemical analysis.

In the late 2000s, the area was held by Max Resources who flew an airborne geophysical survey over parts of the area (Assessment Report 30289). No ground work in the Jade 2 (MINFILE 104B 012) - Gracey Creek area was reported by Max Resources. Refer to Max (MINFILE 104B 013) for details of the activity of Max Resources at the time.
